Borrowing Regulations

  1. Readers holding a valid library card (a campus card with library privileges enabled) may enter the Chinese and international book sections to search for books.
  2. When browsing, please do not reshelve any books you have taken off the shelves but decided not to borrow. Instead, place them on the book carts located at the section exits or on the reading tables. Staff will reshelve them.
  3.  No materials may be taken out of the library without completing the borrowing procedures. Materials designated for "in-library use only" must not be removed from their respective sections.
  4. To borrow items, please proceed to the Circulation Desk on the second floor of Huidian Building and Huizhi Building (Yuehai Campus), or Qiming Building (Lihu Campus). Present both your library card and the items you want to borrow to the staff. The borrowing process is complete once the staff have processed the items. Alternatively, readers may use the self-service borrowing machines by scanning their library card, entering their query password, or presenting the Campus Code.
  5. Borrowing privileges are non-transferable and strictly personal. Readers must present their own library card or Campus Code to borrow items; borrowing by proxy is not permitted. However, returns may be made by another person on behalf of the borrower.
  6. Before checking out any book (especially art albums or picture books), readers must inspect it for missing pages or damage. If any defects are found, please inform library staff immediately so they can stamp a damage seal on the item. Readers will be held responsible for any damage discovered upon return that was not previously acknowledged and sealed by the library.
  7. With the exception of general Chinese and international books, selected Hong Kong and Taiwan publications, and certain non-book materials, all other collections are not available for loan.
  8. If a book cannot be borrowed due to damage, a faulty RFID chip, or system rejection during processing, it cannot be lent out at that time. Please consult with library staff for assistance.
